I hear that it was Taniki Samine mom brought it up at a school board meeting. Her mom is so stupid cause these books are what teaches you kids what life was really like in the past for different minorities. Also like reading about drugs and alcohol are going to make kids want to do try them. Please you kids are not that stupid!!! So tell me what you think and Ill keep you up on all the gossip.
Your friendly lunch room lady
Heki Jonesbrittanyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12710620199993918631noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7306869114559272603.post-46581303083898410322008-01-14T22:01:00.000-06:002008-01-14T22:01:00.000-06:00Ms. Ku-I know you don't teach English or anything,...Ms. Ku-

I know you don't teach English or anything, but you probably have some opinion about the potential book ban. I really think that the PTSA is being irrational. Banning these books will not prevent students from reading them. I also think that the books should be read because students need to be educated on issues that they can't learn about in their own society. Especially here in overpriveledged Maui, many people will never experience these issues. There is little racism or violence here. I think the book Huck Finn is very important to American Literature, and the racist language is not meant to offend anyone. People at this school will not use it in a negative way. And seriously, everyone at this school knows about sex or can find out about it in another way than books taught in school. They will also know about drugs or use drugs. Banning the books will not stop the issues that they are trying to fix. I hope you as a teacher can help the students fight for their books.

-John Sanderscaitlinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14073221002070568293noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7306869114559272603.post-84337380049234954892008-01-14T08:35:00.000-06:002008-01-14T08:35:00.000-06:00Surfer chick! I mean if they are so bad ass i should have started reading a while ago. What do you think about them? Are people over reacting, or should our delicate teenage minds not be allowed to read those books?imhungry4foodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06258387234137825182noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7306869114559272603.post-20180757671940969342008-01-14T08:23:00.000-06:002008-01-14T08:23:00.000-06:00Hi Koukonei Ku,Hello my name is Iaknoa M. and i'm ...Hi Koukonei Ku,
Hello my name is Iaknoa M. and i'm a student at maui high school. i am gathering peoples opiions on the PTSA's new movement in trying to ban a select books from our schools's libraries. I personaly think that all of these books are great and let students see the world through the eyes of these authors. If we were to ban these books we, the students, would not be getting the proper education that we deserve. What do you think about these books? are they not appropiate for oour school? If you get back to me as soon as possible i woould be very glad.

Iakona M.Jasonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14278705863750109312noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7306869114559272603.post-21290425843551367562008-01-08T08:15:00.000-06:002008-01-08T08:15:00.000-06:00Hey Koukonei being a teacher at the school how do ...Hey Koukonei being a teacher at the school how do feel about these books being used in the classroom? Even though you are not an English teacher do you feel you have responsibility for what your students are learning? I would love to hear back from you, thanks. ~Isabel CortezMLarsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09242605267541605355noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7306869114559272603.post-14019734537994323912008-01-07T17:59:00.000-06:002008-01-07T17:59:00.000-06:00Hey Koukonei Ku, I was wondering what your thought...Hey Koukonei Ku,
I was wondering what your thoughts were about the PTSA wanting to ban all of those books. I think that all of the books are all appropriate for high school students. Although some of these books have violent or sexual themes, most of them can relate to themes many teenagers experience on a daily basis. I think that the books are essential in a high school students' education because they highlight themes that are happening throughout the world. What do you think about these books? Do you think some of them are too violent or too sexual?knelsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15218642882686725615noreply@blogger.com
