We strongly encourage you to discuss the content of these books with your peers and those connected with the school to evaluate the reasons we should keep them in (or remove them from) the school library and the curriculum. Without your feedback, we will not be able to effectively evaluate the arguments for and against keeping these books in our school. The list below includes, but does not represent all, the titles being challenged by our community, whose tax money is used to buy the books. Hello all. My name is Adam Tucker, or Mr. Tucker as the students of Maui High School would call me. I am the swim coach at the High School and the part-time gym teacher. I enjoy what I do and couldn't imagine myself in any other job. I will tell you a little about myself. I'm currently single and live with my friend in a loft in Honolulu. I went to school at Chaminade University for teaching and working with children. Right out of college and after graduation, I was offered the teaching and coaching position as the Maui High School physical education teacher and swim Coach. Hey everyone, I'm Chloe Parker and I'm 17. I live in Honolulu with my mom , older sister Hailey, younger brother Jude, and my grandparents. My Father pasted away two years ago because of complications with his heart surgery and it was a very though time for my family. Before my father pasted away life was easy, I didn't have to work because my dad spoiled us. But after he passed away he apparently owed a lot of money to the bank and we had to move out of our house in California. We went to go live with my mom's parents in Hawaii. I wish my dad was still here, but I know he is watching over the four of us and making sure everything will be alright.

After we were living in Honolulu for a few months I found a job at Classic Surfboards Hawaii and I am very proud that I am earning my own income and that I don't have to rely on others for money. Hey everyone! My God-given name is Ben Hogan, but you can call me Worm, everyone does. I think it's becuase I love to read and always have my nose in a book, but my ex-girlfriend told me it is because I smell like dirt. Either way, please don't call me Ben! I live in Honolulu, and I have for 5 years. I moved here from Michigan. The people here are way different than Michiganites. People here are way too laid back, and always late, and never get anything done. They also spend too much time surfing- I never get a chance to go surfing because it makes me very rashy all over my body. All over. Sometimes I go into the ocean if I wear water booties, a long sleeved wetsuit, plastic face mask and water cap, and don't get my hands wet. So I don't go in very often.
I love animals, I just bought a two new pets- male guinea pigs, and I am keeping one in the basement in the dark, and one upstairs in my sunny kitchen. That way I can observe how light affects an animal's life. From what I've read, the one in the basement will suffer with severe psychological problems after about a week. This is second in a series of experiments I do on animals to watch their development.
I like hugging girls, and Iove hanging out with my boys at the observatory, but nothing compares to D&D. Dungeons and Dragons has been my passion since I was six. My parents play with me too, we play approxmately 4 hours a day. I hope to make it a career someday.

I am a local musician here in Honolulu Hawaii. I was originally born in California, but it wasn't warm and relaxing enough so I had to come here. I went to the university of Hawaii to study music. I graduated last year and now am working in an after school program for kids who want to learn blues guitar at the High School. It is a lot of fun. I have a record deal and I tour in the summers. I played in front of forty thousand people in Minnesota. Those are the best fans in the world. Minneapolis is the Rockinest city in the world! I recently played in chicago at the guitar festival with Eric Clapton and am currently working on more music. Hawaiians worship me and the girls scream when they see me. It's a good feeling and the feeling I get from the crowd drives me. I have some good friends and we like to drink and some of them do drugs. But not me... We party with some famous people. I once played beer pong with this guy that ended up being the king of some country. My friends and I also surf and travel around the world to make movies about the exotic places we visit. I live in a modest place on the ocean that faces the sunset. Beach parties happen on the regular and after a long night we can go to the top of a hill nearby to view the sunrise.

Aloha, I am Gabrielle Alexander, most people call me Gabbie. I have lived in Honolulu my whole life. One of the perks of living on an island is that the ocean is right at your feet. I live in a beautiful house right off the ocean and have lived there my whole life. I have been surfing basically since i could walk. The current debate going on in our school is a very controversial issue. I for one am AGAINST banning the books. I think most of those books help people understand lives outside of their own. Some of those books are a bit to mature for maybe ninth graders so some of them should be for maybe upper class man only but there is no reason to ban the books. They are educational. One thing that bugs me is the perks of being a wallflower, many people think that there are to many things that are very inappropriate for high schoolers but seriously, all those things make up highschool. There is something in that book that can relate to everyone.

I am sort of having trouble making friends because everyone already knows everyone and has their own group of friends. I had a lot of friends back at home and I miss them a lot. I really like Honolulu so far (besides school) because it is very warm and has lots of things to do. I love to tan at the beach and swim in the ocean. I visited Honolulu once when I was 5 but I don't remember much about it and it is not like I remember. It is a lot prettier and scenic now that I live here. I used to live in Chicago so I would never see the ocean or even very much warm weather. I think my dog, Hailey, likes Honolulu a lot better than Chicago because she can actually spend a lot of time outside running around and she is not cooped up in our smaller apartment in Chicago. She has even started to love swimming! Things are a lot different here in Hawaii because the ocean is literally in my backyard. My family and I live in a pretty nice condo on the beach and spend most of my time with my two brothers who are 7 and 15. My brothers and I love to swim in our pool and walk down the beach as far as we can go. My dad spends most of his time working and my mom loves to clean the pool, wash our windows, and fix up the condo. When I grow up, I really want to be a Marine Biologist like my dad and hopefully work for him. I think I am going to start working for him now by organizing his notes and helping him in the office. Hello, my name is Theo Haflin and I hail from Phoenix, Arizona and now dwell in the most glorious Honolulu, Hawaii.I am also one half of the dynamic duo, also formally called a set of twins. Ah, what is not to love about being a senior in high school? Well first of all, I am pretty well known with other students, because of my charismatic ways and bright smile wherever I go, so yea I am sort of a big deal....in my own world! My older brothers eventually went on to college and soon were moving from Hawaii, one by one. My name is Albert Roy Samuels. I came to Hawaii 2 years ago to get away from Arkansas and all the people there. I chose Hawaii because there are no harsh winters, it's secluded from the rest of the states and people don't seem to bug me as much. It was hard to leave at frist but I've been kind of used to moving so much because of my occupation as a singer, going on tour dates so often. Going on tours gets in the way of school and somtimes I fall behind but I do love the life of being a popstar! Ofcrouse to keep in tact with school, I have a personal tutor trravel around with me while I'm on tour. I sure do miss my best friend, Lily though! You might think that because I am a popstar, my normal teen life is differnt from other highschoolers. But i most definetly love to do a lot of the same things as any teen girl. Some of my favorite hobbies are Shopping (a girl can never get enough of it!) going to the movies, running, hanging out down the beach catching a tan, and from time to time I do enjoy riding the waves on my brothers surfboard every now and the.I live with my brother and dad. My brother is Jackson and he's 17 years old. We have a typical brother-sister relationship. I get along very well with my father and he supports my singing career 100%, but ofcourse he always has me put school first. I've been getting a lot of attention out here as Hannah Montana and I do like it because it helps me get to know the teens around here but somtimes I wish I could just be a normal person living a normal life. I like the atmosphere of everything out here so far, It's a good life. I love my family and friends and thank them everyday for supporting me through my career, and thinking of me as a person rather than just Hannah Montana the popstar. What's good? My name is Jake and i am a man that loves to surf and play ping pong. You may think of a surfer as a dumb person with his morals mixed up but i am a lot different than that. I have a 4.0 GPA and i am in the top 5 percent of my class. I usually try to find time to study and to surf. I am about 6 feet tall and i have brown eyes and blonde hair. My all time favorite idols in the world are Kelly Slater and Chetan Baboor. Slater is an excellent surfer that in my opinion is the greatest of all time. He's even got his own tournament he is conducting. Chetan Baboor is a great ping pong player that i idolize in every way. I would say that i am pretty friendly. I am easy to get along with and i feel that if you saw me on the beach i would be approachable. I don't come off as an ass but i can be if you give me the right circumstances. I am still a student at Maui home of the Tiki's. I don't care much for the name because that's not all of what Hawaii is about. We do have awesome waves. In my free time when i'm not studying i usually call up some buddies and we just have a good time and discuss current events in the surf world or pong world. Sam I Am. I’m a 33-year-old bus driver at the high school. I moved to the islands almost a decade ago. I came out for a visit and never went home. Since I moved here, I've been a carpenter, a waiter, a cook, and now I'm a bus driver at a high school. It leaves me time to do the things I like such as scuba diving and surfing, and playing with my two kids, of course. I like jumping off cliffs and diving into underwater caves. I like extreme sports and brushing up against danger. (Maybe that's part of the reason I like driving a school bus. Teenagers are CRAZY!) I gotta look tough, so I shave my head and lift almost daily. I like to express myself with body art: tattoos and piercings. I have a bunch of scars too—one from a ski accident and one from a bike accident. I’m not all crazy, though. I like watching documentaries and listening to public radio.

I’m pretty funny, a real smart-aleck, intelligent, hard-working. Don't push me or boss me--I don't like it. I’ll let you know you’ve gone too far.

I like to learn about politics and now much this world is getting totally messed up by people who think they know something. Another thing I can tell you is that I don't like when mainlanders, haoles, come out here and act like fools. Tourists act like they own the place. Go home if you're going to act like a pig—better yet—don't come at all. I think this is part of the reason I drive a school bus. At least kids have some hope left. Maybe.
This is not my school bus, but lava is what makes up the islands. People forget these are made of a bunch of volcanoes.

The colors of the jellyfish would be very cool for the school colors. The jelly fish is a great mascot because no one else would have it. Like five different languages which are all taught by people who are from that country r who have lived there for a few years. Physical education class which includes things like weight lifting, surfing, and beach volleyball. Science classes where students take classes in general biology and Marine biology, chemistry, meteorology, and astrology.They also take classes in the other major subjects like math, English, social studies,and other fun electives. When your not in classes you can hang out at the beach, go shopping or eat out at the mall which is a ten minute walk. Only the tenth graders and up are aloud to go off campus with out an adult. If you don;t want to go off campus or you not old enough there are still two restaurants and a cafeteria that you can eat at. It is a boarding school so the students do live on campus, there are three people to a room. In the room there is one small refrigerator and three raised beds with a desk under each one. Each room has there own full bathroom.All the girls rooms are in one building and the boys in another, each floor has a dorm adviser who is in charge. All the student housing building have a common room with a microwave, t.v, and a sitting area. Hilo Academy has the nicest living quarters you'll see and has the second highest test scores in Hawaii.

Hilo high is the home of the Tsunami's, which are powerful unbeatable storms that can destroy anything in its path. Which is exactly what are sports and academic teams do, win. Hilo Academy has many different sports teams like surfing, rugby, soccer, volleyball, baseball, basketball,lax cross, tennis, and track. If you don't want to play a sport the Tsunami's also have a chess, math,debate,and science team. If there is a sport that you like and the tsunami's don't have then you can start one up your self. Welcome to Israel Kamakawiwo'ole High School!
Our school is named after Israel or Iz because he was an important asset to Hawaii. He was a strong advocate for Hawaiian rights and Hawaiian independence which he displayed through his music. He won many awards and his music hit the number one spot in several different countdowns.
Israel struggled with his weight and passed away on June 26, 1997 weighing 758 pounds. On the day of his funeral (July 10, 1997) the Hawaiian state flag flew at half mast. His kos wood coffin lay in state at the Capitol building in Honolulu. He was the third person in Hawaiian history to be accorded this honor. Over 10,000 people attended his funeral.

The mascot is the ukulele because Israel was talented at playing the ukulele. It was his instrument of choice. He reached the number one spot on Billboard with his album "Wonderful World".
Music is an important way for people to learn. Children who learn a musical instrument at a young age tend to be smarter as they grow up.
Our school encourages every student to learn the ukulele along with their regular curriculum.

hallo all, we are the fighting Geese and we are proud of it! we may be small, but we will totally bite your nose off! located a mile off the lava run off of a volcano, our large school has a great academic and sports program -not to mention a great view! we focus mainly on academics such as languages -we recently started to offer Chinese and Arabic- and world culture studies. while there are some pretty hot days in Hawaii, our school comes equiped with AC and a daily snack bar in the cafe. the lunchroom serves different cultural foods every week and there are many club activities advertised all over the walls. we have very accomplished sports teams- football being the main one. our female football team was ranked best in the state! it might help that there aren't many female foot ball teams, but oh well ^^

Welcome friends. Hows it going? Our school specializes in pig farming. Not that wimpy family farm type. Were talking land stomping, river polluting, nose commanding, money grabbing, no nonsense, animals in a cage pig farming. Just kidding. We are a normal high school, and we are very good at football. But our main sport is soccer. State champs 3 years in a row. We have four classes a day, most our outside and students don't have to attend when they don't want. Most teachers don't even show when the surfing is good. We have many environmental type classes. We celebrate our Hawaiian heritage often with cookouts and dances. Our name the Ham hawk is based on the food we feed the dolphins and sharks so they don't eat surfers. Our mascot the pork chops is based on the favorite food of Homer Simpson. Who is the inspiration of many of our teams victories. A popular cheer is, "Do it for Homer."

Captain Cook High School Home Of The Captains

Named after the great Captain James Cook who is considered to be the first European Explorer to discover Hawaii. He was the first to establish the geographical coordinates to Hawaii's location. Captain Cook is remembered for his infamous cue against the oppressing chief. He failed and was killed by the chief's body guards. But it was Captain Cook's influence that gained Hawaii its popularity. Published tales about Cooks adventures in the Pacific and sparked interest, many came to see the beauty and stand in awe at what Hawaii had to offer. Cook can easily be cause for national awareness about Hawaii, and without him Hawaii would not be what it is today.

To honor his great legacy, a high school was named after him. Commonly referred to as Cook High's Cap'ns, the school is famous for its athletic following and ability. Opened in early 2000, the school has a new, fresh feel. With state of the art technologies and great staff the school is one of the best Hawaii has to offer. Waikiki High School- Home of the wild whales

Welcome to Waikiki High School! This is one of the best ranked high schools in the nation. In fact, it is number 10. The school has state of the art technology. Each student has to purchase a laptop for a small fee. But all the computers are very nice, and high speed. (The whole campus is wireless!) Every class can be taken online, or in a standard classroom setting. The teachers feel that every learning style should be presented so that every student can achieve the best grades possible. The staff is one of the most diverse in the country. A lot of teachers speak multiple languages, so many of the foreign students feel at right at home.
Because the students have many learning style possibilities, they get very good grades. In fact, 20% of all Waikiki High School graduates go on to attend Ivy League Colleges.
As for the athletic department, they do exceptionally well. The wild whales water polo team is a Division I team. It was a close game against Laguna Beach, California, but the wild whales came out on top as the Division champions! As for other sports teams, we excel in football, soccer, tennis, and lacrosse.
Our art department is doing very well also. Our show choir is third in the nation, and competes on a regular basis. Our marching band performs at half time shows for some major league football teams.
Our theatre company will be putting on four performances of the musical Hairspray in the spring.

Do you know who Kelly Slater is? If not your not welcome at this high school. Kelly Slater is a surfer that is worshiped as if he were a God. Kelly Slater is a 7 time world champion and in our mind is the best surfer to ever live. Here at Kelly Slater high we like to think of everyone as tubular!

It's Hawaii and we are called the snowmen. Isn't it awesome? We like to think about what is normal and do the opposite because what makes something normal? We don't even have snow here in Hawaii but we like to build them with our imagination. Our snowman has three humps with the bottom one being the biggest and the top one the smallest. Of course the only way to make a snowman is with packing snow. No other snow will do. Snowmen may not be to intimidating but our high school name makes up for that. Far out! Plus we never get to compete with any other schools in the US because none will travel to this tropical paradise it's simply to expensive.

We offer the usual schedule of classes with math, english, foriegn languages, social studies, science, etc. But we do have one thing that is a little out there at that is a high tide surf break!!!! Best part of the day dude is high tide. When the moon is close enough to the earth the gravitational pull of the moon causes high tide. DUH! .htm So if your a person that is interested in getting away from the ordinary and having a sweet life, come to Kelly Slater High of Hawaii. We breed champions and no less. Hello and Welcome to Kula High School, home of the Chameleons! Kula High has a great atmosphere full of exciting young kids. Kula High School is a public and coed high school. The school was established in 1970, and was renovated in 2006,it is one of the newest renovated school in Honolulu. It holds grades ninth through twelve graders .The school was once a middle school but it got a lot larger. It then became a high school. Kula High School is located in Honolulu in a suburban area and several miles away is the most beautiful volcano. The volcano is in a great location it is right next to the ocean and it over looks the entire city of Honolulu it is an amazing view.

As of 2006, the enrollment at Kula High School stands at 4,000 students. Kula High School is recognized for its academics, music and its sport acceivements. Aloha everyone and welcome to Moanalua High School, home of the Monk Seal. Moanalua High School is a public, co-educational college preparatory high school serving grades nine through twelve. Established in 1972 , Moanalua High School is located in suburban Salt Lake near Moanalua in the City & County of Honolulu of the state of Hawaii. It is situated on an extinct volcano hillside overlooking downtown Honolulu.

The volcanic hillside on which Moanalua High School sits was used by native Hawaiians in worship. As one of the highest points overlooking what would later become the city of Honolulu, the volcanic hillside was revered as a place where the faithful could be closer to the ancestral spirits and gods. It served as a sacred altar as late as the reign of King Kamehameha V.

As of 2006, the enrollment at Moanalua High School stands at 2,050 students. Moanalua High School is nationally recognized for its academics, music program and media communications learning center. In 1998, it became the first student orchestra officially invited to play at Carnegie Hall by the governing Carnegie Hall Corporation. The Moanalua High School Marching Band is also widely acclaimed to be one of the best in the state. With the absence of professional sports teams in Hawaiʻi, the popularity of high school athletics is considerably high in the state. Hawaiian Monk Seals, one of the most endangered species of all seals, became extinct in the 1950s. It is estimated that fewer than 1,400 Hawaiian Monk Seals exist today. The Hawaiian monk seal, Monachus schauinslandi, is Hawaii's only pinniped. It is a species that is considered endemic to the islands. The word endemic means that the species is unique to a region (i.e., is found no where else) and is believed to have evolved there. Many believe monk seals got their name from their monk-like preference for solitude; others think that the loose skin around the seals' neck resembles the hood of a monk's robe.Hawaiian monk seals are genetically tame and easily approached by humans. "The Aloha State" became the 50th state in 1959. Hawaii has six main islands and the powerhouse of them all is Oahu. The capital city is Honolulu. Honolulu means "Sheltered Bay" in Hawaiian. I think that is why we should name our high school Bay City High School. The City and County of Honolulu encompasses the whole island of Oahu. The city has one of countries most busiest ports, Honolulu Harbor . Most of Hawaii's food and manufactured goods must be imported and distributed here. When you enter the state of Hawaii whether by harbor or airport it is famous for handing out leis. The flower that is on leis is the Ilima. The yellow Ilima flower is also Oahu's official flower. Each flower is about an inch across and somewhat resembles a small hibiscus. Early Hawaiians used ilima flowers as a cure for general illnesses. Juice from the pressed flowers was given to children, and pregnant women sometimes ate the flowers until childbirth. The school name honors Hawaii's language and beauty by naming it Bay City. Aloha, welcome to Kamehameha (Ka·me·ha·me·ha) the Third High School. Our school is named after Kamehameha the third. He was the King of the kingdom of Hawaii. Kamehamea the third in 1845, moved the permanent capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom from Lahaina on Maui to Honolulu. He and many kings after him transformed Honolulu to a modern capital. Building St. Andrew's Cathedal, Lolani Place and Aliiolani Hale. Honolulu became the center of commerce in the island also at this time.

Anyways, our school is a public, co-educational high school. This school has not been around very long. About five years at the most, so everything is very new and up to date with the hip new styles of a high school.We specialize in a varity of different classes. We have several classes that specialize in the study of the ocean and the animals in it. We also have a surfing team and proffessional surfing lessons. We have some of the highest test scores in the state. Our campus is beautiful. We have lots of tennis courts and a lovley view of the ocean from the high school. We are in the top five schools for sports teams. We are masters in football,tennis, soccer, and lacrosse. We also have very elite choir and band programs. Our high school is very big but our population is small. This allows many different opportunities for all of the high school students. More one on one time with the teachers and smaller classe sizes.

We are the school of the Captains. We got our name because honolulu had a lot of good ship captains come out of it and since we are right off the ocean there are still a lot of captains that are part of Honolulu today and we all figured we should honor all those captains who get lost at sea. The people of the school board reviewed our choice and made sure that this was not offending anyone because non of us would like to offend anyone and have the problems of the mascot debate.

Mokihana High School is an accredited high school. It contains roughly 1200 students, so only about 300 students per grade. The class sizes are around 20 kids to a class making it easier for students to get the help they need. The high school offers a ton of different classes to fit all students needs. On top of the basics math, english, social studies, science, Mokihana offers classes such as film studies, ocean-ograpghy, marine biology, and wildlife 101. Gym classes often consisit of going to the beach and learning how to surf and wake board. Students get to spend a lot of time off camps to learn and enjoy all the wonders of the beautiful hawaiian islands. Students get plenty of opportunities to take field trips to learn about the mountains and volcanoes.
The campus its self is spread out. Students can enjoy a short nature walk from one building to the other for classes. At Mokihana we try to get kids to stay active while getting the best education they can.
Our sports team have won many state/island championships. From football and volleyball to the surf comepetition, the geckos have definitly proven themselves to be the team to beat.
The atmosphere at Mokihana is a very pleasent one. With one of the lowest drop out rates, and lowest supension/expelsion numbers in all of Hawaii, our students stay well behaved because they enjoy being in school so much. We do all that we can to make sure that they get a great education and enjoy the time they are here.
We have had some of the highest test scores reported in all of Hawaii, and an 90% success rate. (90% of all students who attend Mokihana will continue on to college once they graduate)

Welcome to Liliuokalani High School! We are named after Queen Liliuokalani. She was the last monarch of Hawaii in 1891 after her brother died. At our high school, we specialize in marine biology, since we are so close to the ocean. Also, each Friday we take a yacht and have class at sea. We believe in respecting and becoming one with the environment.
Since we are so focused on the environment and the ocean, it is only appropriate that our mascot comes from the ocean. We feel that an octopus represents our school well.

Our crosstown rivals are the Ursulas. We always beat them in football, lacrosse, tennis, soccer, and hula dancing. We also have a strong theater program, and we have plays every fall and spring. In the past we have done the Wizard of Oz, Les Miserable, My Fair Lady, and The Importance of Being Earnest.

Looking far back into the history of The Aloha State, the beginning of Hawaii began with the Polynesians. A majority of Polynesians, if not all, believe that Tiki was the first living man . It is also believed, according to Polynesian mythology, that Tiki is a sculpture carved in the shape of a god that houses a spirit. Because it is the capital of Hawaii, Honolulu is a very great place to have our high school. It has a lot of interesting history and culture. Captain William Brown from England was the first foreigner to sail into what is now the Honolulu Harbor. Since Captain Brown was the first to sail to Honolulu, I think that our school should be dedicated to him. It should be named Brown High School and the mascot would be a brown bear. The name would symbolize the interesting history of Honolulu and also be an appropriate mascot that everyone could appreciate. The bear would be a great mascot because it is intimidating and strong! It would not be offensive and it would be easy to make clothing and other school spirit wear!! It would also be a great idea for a mascot because it is not the typical Hawaii high school mascot. It will be unique because the other schools will be water animals rather than forest and land animals like a BEAR!

By naming the high school Brown High School, it would honor Captain William Brown who was the first to sail to Honolulu. It is a simple name which is great for a high school. It would tell a story of the city's history and be a great mascot!

Kou High School- Home of the Aikanes.

Naming our high school Kou high school would symbolize the history of Honolulu. At an unknown time Honululu was named, but originially it was called Kou. Kou is the district from Nuuanu Avenue to Alakea Street and from Hotel Street to Queen Street. Honolulu is known for it's shipping, it exports sandalwood, sugar, pineapples, and light manufacturing.
The Hawaiian Islands were westernized by seamen, colonizers, adventurers, and merchants. We need to recognize how much the sea and ocean mean to this island. By having the mascot of the Aikanes we are able to do this. An aikane is an green sea turtle. This turtle has been endangered since 1978. These trutles were the first source of food, tools, and decoration when Hawaii was established. Since 1974, hunters are not allowed to kill these turtles. This has been enforced since 1978 when they entered the endangered species list.

These turtles are the largest of the hard-shelled sea turtles. They are about 100cm in length and weigh about 150 kg. They live to be about 59 years old.
We NEED to honor the history and endangered species of Honolulu. We can do this by naming our school Kou High School and having our mascot be the Aikanes.

The islands of Hawaii have been developed for fruit, sugar, coffee and tourism due their majestic beauty, climate and strategic location in the Pacific Ocean. For centuries, perhaps millennia, people have migrated from Asia, and more recently from the Europe and the Americas to inhabit or even visit this exotic chain of islands.

Naming our school after Don Ho, who died on April, 14, 2007, would honor this native singer and songwriter, whose catchy hit "Tiny Bubbles" helped bring him fame. Born in Honolulu, HI, Don Ho's heritage-Hawaiian, Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch, and German-is a product of this influx of people, represented the variety of people who have settled in this land. He was born in Kaka'ako, a district of Honolulu. Read about this area's development around the time he was born.

Because this land is such a paradise, many nations have tried to conquer and rule it. The western culture of capitalism has taken hold, and this is why native people and residents are fighting to keep Kaka'ako from being sold and developed. We must honor American legends, especially those who come from the location where we go to school. Let's call ourselves the Dukes, in honor of yet another legendary Hawaiian: surfer and Olympic swimmer, Duke Paoa Kahinu Mokoe Hulikohola Kahanamoku. Don Ho got his start at Duke's a famous Wakiki restaurant named for and owned by The Duke himself. In the tradition of the islands and their heroes, we can learn to build a community. Through education, we can teach the children about their interesting and valuable history. We should help the people who live here in fighting to keep the land from being developed more that it already has been. Our mascot should be based on The Duke and show a surfer catching an awesome wave and conquering it, as we will conquer our opponents in academics, athletics or anywhere in the world.

Our high school should be in Brisbane, Queensland in the Country of Australia. IT is the capital of Queensland, and it is a very beautiful city. A good reason to have a school here is because when you forget things out in your car, or if you have to leave school and come back, it will always be warm out so you don't have to run out in the snow and cold. It close to the ocean so after school, you can lay out in the sun while you do your homework.
Rugby is an important sport here, and it would be fun for the students to play.
Brisbane is one of the biggest city's in the Country, so there are many fun things to do for feild trips and for educational purposes. Also, for spring break, you only need to drive about an hour to get to Surfers Paradise where most kids enjoy going for a vacation.

Our school should be in boulder colorado! Boulder is gorgeous. And Colorado is the prettiest state there is. Imagine this over 300+ days of sun each year! Seriously, it can't get better than this. Its 5340 miles above sea level. It's right by the rocky mountains too. That means skiing, snowboarding, and beautiful weather. Boulder was established my whites in the Gold Rush of 1858, but the Southern Arapaho tribe resided there first. There are 100,000 people who live in Boulder. That is a good size, and there is also the University of Colorado-Boulder there. Boulder is about one hour from the Denver airport.

Pearl Street is one of the most popular streets in Boulder. There is a mall there, and it is gorgeous. There is a lot to do in this town, and it is gorgeous.

Denver is a rapidly developing city in Colorado! Trust me, this is the perfect place for a high school student! It's a fairly safe city, with lots of activities to do that don't revolve around drinking or gambling. That means no matter what age Melinda is, she can have fun!

Above I put a picture of a neighborhood and a nearby school, Hyde Park. The kids in this neighborhood are very friendly. Most of the Denver residents spend their time at the Colorado state parks, since this state is known for being physically active and with lots of outdoor activities. Most popular is skiing, snowboarding, hiking, etc.

Denver is known for its friendly people. This is also a newly developing city, full of the newest technology and lots of employment opportunities. There is a large demographic of young professionals, followed by the baby boomer generation. This city understands the importance of a good education, so all the schools are well taken care of and are at the top of their game. The crime rates are also EXTREMELY low for this large of a city. There were only 11.1 murders in 2003! Wow, Denver!
Property crime is also half that of most large cities.

There is so much to do in Denver. There is great shopping, and it is easy to get to the areas of attraction because there is GREAT mass transportation! This city is very environmentally conscious, and makes it easy for large gropus of people to get around (so the traffic isn't that bad!). There are buses, Amtrak, and other opportunities to save your own gas.

Worthington is a great place to be! Even though it is one of the smallest towns in Minnesota, it has endless attractions! You will never be bored with all of the things to do including everything from water sports on Lake Okabena to shopping at the Northland mall! Because it is a northern state, the Worthington community enjoys all four seasons.
Lake Okabena is a very popular place for the community members. It is located close to the downtown and is a central part of the life of Worthington for many years. Many community members love to spend time on the lake year round. It is a pretty view in the winter and summer and provides many with endless activities.
Since Worthington is located in Minnesota, the winters provide endless fun. Activities range from everything from Snowmobiling to ice skating to ice fishing! You will never be bored in this small town because there is always something going on or something to do.
Worthington is a city in Nobles County, Minnesota. The population was 11,283 at the 2000 census, so it is a pretty small town that is nice and personal. The interesting history of Worthington contributes to its many benefits. The city was first settled in the 1870s as Okabena Station on a line of the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha Railway, later the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad where steam engines would take on water from Lake Okabena. More people came to the town with a man named A.P. Miller from Ohio who was from a firm called the National Colony Organization. He named Worthington after his wife's maiden name.
Another interesting fact is the man who started Dayton's Department Store (now called Macy's) was a banker and work with real estate in Worthington before moving to Minneapolis. His house is now restored and a well known attraction known as the 1890 Dayton House.

There are many things to do here in Myrtle Beach. The main activity that many people like to do in this city is sit on their stoop in front of their homes. The beach is a nice place also but where better to hang out than your own territory? There is a little bit of gambling here but none of that casino crap. The old underground casino is the way we roll. Although it may get dangerous down there sometimes there is always the element of surprise which makes it that much more fun.

So grab your kid's leave your cat and dog, because they will probably end up running away anyway due to our high rate of runaway pets, and head South. If violence and crime isn't the right thing for you then don't come here. But if your looking to step out of the ordinary and live life on the edge we will be more than happy to welcome you with a complementary pair of shoelaces so when your on the run your shoes won't fall off your feet. It has the ideal temperatures, its not too far away from LA, and it is right on the ocean! This is the city where Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana resides, so our school would even have a celebrity or two. Also there is a car named after the city of Malibu so you know that it is ideal. There is no car named after New York, or Miami, or even Minneapolis!But there is a Chevy Malibu. If you look at the picture of Malibu, you can't even say that it's not the ideal place for a high school. We can have school at sea! We would have the best field trips, we could go to LA and Sea World, and Disney World, and San Fransisco. If we wanted, we could probably convince the teachers to let us swim with dolphins. There is a rumor that Ryan and Sharpay Evans will attend this school. Vote for Malibu, where everyone is happy!

It is a beautiful city with many exciting adventures to be made.
There are many exciting activities to do while you're there.
If you're into art, there are several different galleries such as, The Minneapolis Institute of Arts or the Walker Art Center.
You love shopping? There is the Uptown area with numerous shops that are unique and shopped by the fashionistas of the area. The famous is only a short 20 minute drive away. It has over 500 stores for your shopping pleasure. Don't pass out on the drive home!
The nightlife scene is pretty intense. There are lots of different clubs if you're interested in dancing and meeting some new people. Some of the most popular are: The Myth and Escape Ultra Lounge.
If you aren't into the clubbing scene, there are also tons of venues to catch a concert at almost every night! Minnesota is rising to become one of the top cities with the best up and coming bands. Don't forget about Minnesota's countless lakes! One of the most wonderful lakes in the state is right in Minneapolis! It is the gorgeous Lake Calhoun where throughout the day many bikers, runners, walkers, and boaters can be seen all around the area. It is also a lovely place for a picnic.
